An interesting and worthwhile tv commercial and video from Barclays regarding online security and the importance of HTTPS on websites.

Whilst HTTPS doesn’t guarantee 100% security, it does however provide an element of trust and a secure connection between your machine and the website’s server. HTTPS is essentially a secure tunnel to transfer encrypted data from the server to the client/users machine. Making it safe from MitM (Man-in-the-Middle) attacks. Look out for the Green Padlock (HTTPS) on websites when purchasing online gifts this Christmas. If the website doesn’t have a Green Padlock, be wary, be vigilant and perhaps do some research about the business before committing to buy online.
